Enemy Territory Quake Wars

Well what a ride ! I joined the public BETA months ago when it came out. By this time I had already pre-ordered and paid for two copies of the game but I was sorely disappointed by the gameplay in the BETA. Too spray and pray for my style of gaming.

Anyway after losing interest in the Beta I stopped playing for a little and stopped looking for updates on the release until I heard it had already been out for a bit! So I went along to my local EB Games yesterday arvo and picked up my pre-paids and thought what the hell lets give it a go.

I was pleasantly surprised gameplay is improved with rewards for accurate shooting, can pull off some great one-shot-one-kills with the infiltrator class sniper rifles. None of this cartoonish 3 shots to kill a bloke even if you hit him in the right spot. Just mucking around in my first 10 minutes I managed 17 sniper kills on the Grand Canyon Northern Territory map (no I didnt go looking for it because I'm in the NT it just happened to be the first populated Oz server I could find LOL).

So despite my first impressions from the BETA I have to say I do like it !

My only beef is with the pre-registration program they had running. You could pre-order and reserve your ingame name, however something has stuffed up on their side as many people in the ETQW community forums are reporting, all those pre-ordered registrations seem not to be working.

So till I get some help from Activision Support I will have to play with the name aukiman.uxdt as my reserved name aukiman is just out of reach for the time being ...

Ahh well - see you in there for some practice ! :)

actually the specs are not too steep for this one. :) They have some spiffy coding in here that they are quite proud of.

Im only running an Athlon 3200 with 4Gb Ram and a 7900 gfx card and I'm running the game at 1680 x 1050 widescreen with absolute smoothness!

recommended min specs are

CPU: Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 2.8 GHz or AMD(R) Athlon(TM) XP 2800+
processor (Pentium 4 3.0GHz or equivalent for Windows Vista) RAM: 512MB RAM (768MB for Windows Vista)
Video Card: 128MB NVIDIA(R) Geforce(TM) 5700 or ATI(TM) Radeon(TM) 9700 (full list of supported chipsets below)
Sound Card: 100% DirectX 9.0c compatible sound card
HDD Space: 750MB of free hard drive space, plus 200MB for Windows swap file
Internet: Broadband connection and service required for full gameplay and downloads. Features may change without notice.

nice review, but not a nice game imo

hate things too far fetched for this world as a FPS.
