I've lived in Darwin for all my life and have never seen a redback spider or a death adder, aside from photos of them. How did you get that close without getting bitten by the snake?

ok. For the owls, they had a nest on a branch that overhung our shed roof. The branch looked unstable so we were going to cut down the tree. Just before we were going to bite the chainsaw into the trunk, I spotted the owls, so of course we had to spare the tree. From then on I sat on the roof every night taking photos and watched the owlets progress even including their maiden flights.

For the Death Adder. We often find them on our block. but this was a cheat shot, I confess. We had a burn on our block. The next day I found this adder on the driveway in the position you see in the shot. Closer inspection revealed that it was dead! It must have crawled away from the fire, then died with its mouth open. I picked it up and stuck it on the rock and took its photo.

I have never seen red back spiders around here either, but this one arrived inside the wheel rim of a truck my husband bought which was transported from Tennant Creek. I moved it to a more natural setting in the garden and took its photo, I did however, touch up the redness with photoshop as you couldn't really see it before.

Croc was on a fishing trip at Corroboree or was it Yellow Waters. Ask Rob Russell, he nearly hooked the thing trying to retrieve a lure.
