The Kingdom - worth a look

New one coming out with Jamie Foxx, Jeffier Garner, and directed by Ridley Scott (black hawk down fame) called The Kingdom. I saw it last night at a premiere and I found it enjoyable. Some graphic shooting violence within, but all in all, entertaining.

Story lines follow a US compound in Saudi Arabia that falls victim to a bombing. There is a political line that is applied to the FBI, however, they go there anyway in an effort to catch the bad guys. I found it interesting as it seemed to be mainly shot over in Saudi and highlights some of the international/language/cultural differences within the War on Terror.

Saw the Movie at an advance screening on Wednesday night.

Excellent intrigue movie, with some great military components. The creme-de-la-creme was the urban gunfight scene for the last 20 minutes of the movie. Incredibly well done.

Faults:
- Movie is around two hours, and several sections were very slow.
- Cinematography is jerky, especially during the actions sequences. It's obviously designed to give you a feeling of rushed time, and the environment being out of control. But to me it just seems like lazy camerawork, and can give you a headache if you're sitting too close :P

Rewards:
- Excellent cast and character development. You believe the characters in the roles they play
- Excellent plot. The history is explained, and the story is designed to be believable. Does a very good job.
- Great effects, with very little CGI. Almost everything you see was done with stuntwork and pyrotechnics. Makes for a much more intense and involved story.

Recommended audience:
- Any Tom Clancy Fans
- Any military junkies

yep seen it now! Even the other half likes it. Even if you aren't a huge fan of military type movies this is still a great flick
