Here's a short 3D scene I made from scratch years ago, I dug this out because I am hoping to do some more 3D work again, although it takes a long time to do.
The helicopter in this is modelled 'ROUGHLY' off the style of the US Comanche chopper. I think in all it took about 14 hours worth of modelling to get to that stage and another 3 hours of texturing. Not to mention nearly 12 hours of rendering (this was done when the PIII was still around lol)
First pass shows just the wireframe model with animation.
Second Pass I used a stock photo to get some perspective on positioning.
Third pass is textured, lit and including raytraced shadows. I needed to add a fake ground object layer and adjust it to the stock photo perspective to bounce the shadows off and make it look like they were actually falling on the sand.As you can see - I was still learning a lot of stuff about animation, it is slightly too robotic and moves like an insect rather than a helicopter. I know how to fix that with tweeners now, but am yet to find some time to relearn 3D skills since it has been a few years since I did this stuff.
Modelling and Animation in 3D Studio Max, Audio was just some military chatter soundbytes I got of the web. Chopper sounds were off some chopper game lol. Audio edited in GoldWave.
