Irfanview is a handy little utility that supports viewing an ENORMOUS range of file formats (movie formats included) and also including .PSD files which will be handy for all those Photoshop users who want to just browse directories of files without needing to open Photoshop itself.
Irfanview is also EXTREMELY portable .. once installed you can just take the executable file with you on USB key - for what it does it is surprisingly small with a footprint of only 434 KB.
Now it doesnt pretend to be a full featured image editor like Photoshop for example, however it does have some simple editing tools and effects and handy features such as Batch image conversions.
Irfanviews image optimisation method is also fantastic, and even rivals Photoshop's "save for web" feature in terms of file compression without sacrificing too much quality.
This little utility is a must have if you work with a lot of image type files ... and best of all is it's ABSOLUTELY FREE. Of course there is the option to support the maker if you feel like making a donation.
