The Dow Jones finished up (finally) 146 points overnight with investors picking up some bargains. In the last 90 mins of trading the index rose 200 points. The timing is important with the gain as it shows that the market is realistically down, however, stocks now are at a more reasonably priced level and at these prices, the fundamentals behind the company valuations are making investors step out and top up. The reporting season will start in earnest tonight in the US which should make the next two weeks rather choppy as far as markets go. Alcoa has already reported some good news but it was after the bell over night so if no one else reports overnight, tomorrow should be a good news day also. Every one is awaiting Ben Berneke's speech on Thursday (Thursday night our time and Ben is the US Fed chairman).
The ASX fell around 30 points during yesterday's trading consisting of a sharp fall early followed by a slow recovery over the rest of the day. With a nice lead from the US, investors might be adventurous today and start to dip in.
RA Portfolio has outperformed my personal portfolio this week after yesterday's efforts     . With some great volume in our mining stock PRE. This stock rose 10% yesterday with the other stock IMI stagnating. This is a good sign given that the ASX fell. The new trading day has started so let's see how it goes today!
