How does a PS3 for $299 sound?
Pretty damn good if you ask me.
As always there is a catch, but it's still a pretty damn good deal.
The new store in Casuarina "GAME" (I believe all Games stores do this when they first open for non Darwinites) has an offer where you can trade in a working PS2 and ten games, and get a PS3 for $299. That is $400 less than the RRP on a PS3. Pretty good when you consider that you can buy a brand new PS2 for $150 and ten games for less than $150 off if you don't already have them around the house.
I went in to GAME on Friday night and took advantage of this deal.
The things to keep in mind are:
-The PS2 must work, come with the original cables and controller.
-The games must have the original manuals.
-The games cannot be on this list: http://www.game.com.au/page.aspx?docid=29
-The games must be available for individual sale - i.e. Buzz games say on the back "not for individual sale". They need to be traded with the buzzers.
As I had a few games on the excluded list, I went down to Cashies and got 4 games for $50. They clean the discs for you for free.
I spoke with the guys at the GAME store and they seemed to think that they would have the deal until Christmas, but they couldn't say for sure.
The PS3 is great. I'll post more on it later.
